FBI Director James Comey tried to get the Trump White House to repudiate Trump’s accusation about Obama ordering wiretaps on Trump. Think maybe Comey regrets his huge role in getting Trump elected? Great work, Director.
Stupid is as stupid does
One upside to Trump is that I’ve enjoyed watching SNL again. Well, watching Hulu and YouTube clips of SNL because I don’t stay up that late anymore.
His name is Jeff, Jeff Sessions.
Why the Russians wanted Trump to win…
It may have started when he encouraged them to hack Hillary Clinton’s emails:
Trump tweets about Russian Ambassador

1. This isn’t “just out”- it has been a matter of public record.
2. The whole reason for having ambassadors is so that they meet with other governments and heads of state.
3. The issue is when you coordinate with foreign governments to influence US elections and lie about it under oath to Congress (Jeff Sessions).
Trump accuses Obama of Nixonian behavior
If there is one thing we have learned it is that just because it is the weekend it doesn’t mean President Trump is going to stop tweeting nonsense. Without citing any evidence, Trump is accusing Obama of having tapped his phone during the election. Trump classily calls his predecessor a “Bad (or sick) guy!” …..No word if the tapped phone transcripts will be translated or in the original Russian.
Press treated like battered spouse?
Andrew Sullivan writes that President Trump is treating the press like a battered spouse with a mix of fear and reconciliation. Trump’s address to Congress is being viewed by the press as Presidential and statesman-like. He has set such a low bar for himself that when he doesn’t come out unhinged it is treated as a triumph.
Utah citizens worried about losing Obamacare
Utahns (yeah, I looked it up) are starting to recognize that losing Obamacare with no viable replacement might be a bad thing.
NY Times article quotes a woman asking Representative Chris Stewart: “Poor people need it and you’re against it- why?” No response given in the article…
Sessions used political funds to travel to meet with Russian envoy
Hopefully Attorney General Jeff Sessions hasn’t spent a lot of time unpacking. From the SF Chronicle:
“The use of political funds instead of legislative funds is an important distinction because the Trump administration maintains that Session was acting only in his role as a then-U.S. senator when he talked to Kislyak.”
Tenn Rep staunchly anti-abortion….unless he’d be impacted
Congressman DesJarlais votes to ban abortions after 20 weeks and is quite proud of his 100% anti-abortion rating. Times Free Press points out this little inconsistency:
“DesJarlais’ support of his ex-wife’s abortions, which occurred before their 1995 marriage, was revealed after his 2012 re-election to Congress in a divorce trial transcript. The transcript also showed the physician had engaged in multiple affairs with patients, and pressured one of them to get an abortion after she told him she was pregnant. The outcome of that pregnancy is unknown.”
Obamacare replacement Bill literally can’t be found
My favorite part of the Vox story is that Republican Senator Rand Paul brought his own printer with him.
